All about the Global Awards 2018

The the second ever Global Awards are just around the corner, so to get ready, join us as we reflect back on the buzz and excitement of last years awards!

The night was a huge event, full of all things music, news and entertainment – it bought together fans and stars alike, with special appearances and performances from world class artists like Rita Ora, Kasabian and Sam Smith.

Little Mix were clear favourites of the night, winning an impressive three awards in total. The first award they picked up was for ‘Best Song’, with their single ‘Power’. The girls also brought home wins in the ‘Best Group’ category and one for the ‘Best British Artist or Group’.

Little Mix are set to perform at this years Global Awards, so make sure you tune in!

The night was successful for a range of different artists too. The well-deserved Sam Smith took home the ‘Mass Appeal Award’, after his hugely successful 2017. Camila Cabello won for ‘Best Female’, and whilst Shawn Mendes won for ‘Best Male’, and was nominated amongst the likes of Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber.

For ‘Best RnB, Hip Hop or Grime’, the likes of J Hus, Drake, Mabel and Post Malone were nominated, but Stormzy was the one to win, crediting the other nominees during his acceptance speech.

The coming together of all of Globals brands was evident throughout the show, with awards and performances from a range of different genres. Kasabian bought home the award for ‘Best Indie’, and also gave the audience and impressive and memorable performance of their hit song, ‘Fire’. The Global Awards also credited the popularity of the classical genre, with Andrea Bocelli winning ‘Best Classical Artist’.

The ‘Social Media Superstar’ was a special category in the night. Nominees included, Oli White, Cameron Dallas and Zoella, but Casper Lee was the fan favourite and took home the win.

The best of music and entertainment wasn’t the only thing celebrated that night – the First Responders won for the ‘Best News Moment Of The Year’, celebrating those first on the scene from the multiple tragic events from 2017.
